a crush a day: one part humorous & two scoops opinionated

Humorous: Talking about FMILF (famous men I’d like to freak) while let my mind go wild (PG-13 most of the time).
Opinionated: Dispelling racially constructed and stereotypical ideas of the typical guys that an Ghanaian-Canadian (black woman/BW) is attracted to and/or attracts.
Policies: Real life crushes will only be discussed when they show teachable moments. Their identities will be hidden with a nickname. No one will be called out directly through their real name or anything of that nature.

330. on the radio

School, book writing, swirling and life > these things have kept me away from the blog but I have been following the stories around two books about interracial dating at the moment. The first one would have to be A Black Girl’s Guide to Dating White Men by Niki McElroy.

(Warning: Both interviews have swearing and adult content in them. The first one has racial adult content. The second one is more sexual).

First radio interview:

We are going to have to stop talking to non-believers. If you do not want to do interracial dating then...sit down in the corner! I think that talking to non-believers is a waste of time whether it is another black women or men. Rude Jude or Black Male Indentified Men or Women don’t need to be in the conversation either. Just take a note from Betty’s article For Black Women: When White Men Are Buddies With a “Brotha.”

• “F^&* a book!” > Education? What? I can’t with this sentence at all.
• Throughout the whole interview they made fun of her stance on dating.
• Bottom line: There were too many black men putting in their opinions on a book that does not concern them. Every single thing she was saying was derailed.

Stop talking to people who you’re dating does not concern; specifically, anyone other than yourself, (God if you believe), your guy, and your supporters.

Second radio interview:

The second radio interview had a lot of white guys who were calling into the studio compared to the first radio interview. I want to hear from white guys (who are not Black Male Identified like Rude Jude) who want to date black women. I want to know their stories. I always welcome stories from black women who date white guys. Non-believers are not in the conversation anymore. (I really don’t know who allowed them in the conversation in the first place).

From both interviews and what I want to continue into 2012 right now is that I want to hear from more white men (and other men from different cultures). Also with more black women who are on the same page.

What listening to both radio interviews reminded me is who needs to be speaking in interracial dating dialogues and who has been allowed to speak for too long. Let’s not derail our lives with drainers like the first interview and work on our own lives.

Disclaimer: I haven’t read the book yet just found that the dialogues to be interesting in comparison.
